You receive a marketing email from a DNA testing company who offer you the chance to take their DNA test, and then dial up the genes from whichever part of the world you identify with most – after which, you get to experience your chosen ancestral story. What could go wrong?

Inspired by David Rudkin's TV play Penda's Fen, Mud and Flame is a dark and atmospheric branching narrative game made in Twine.  It is intended as a subversive and thought-provoking meditation on identity
